How we started.

The Gear Group was founded in March 2023 when two experienced professionals, Lohan Baard and Susan Westraadt, came together as equal business partners to offer a broader range of services to a diverse set of industries. 

Lohan, an Associated General Accountant registered with SAICA, brings extensive knowledge of accounting principles and a deep understanding of tax legislation, particularly within the agricultural sector. Having founded “Baard and Partners” in 2006, his practice has grown consistently and remains a driving force in his career. 

Susan, a Chartered Accountant, Assessor, and Fiduciary Practitioner, is registered with SAICA and FISA, and a Registered Auditor with IRBA. With years of experience in auditing, assurance, and compliance, Susan has headed and trained audit divisions, specializing in statutory and compliance audits across manufacturing, Attorney Trust Accounts, and non-profit entities. 

Both Lohan and Susan reached a point in their individual careers where they saw the potential for something greater. By joining forces, they combined their complementary expertise to create a dynamic team capable of meeting all your business needs with unparalleled skill and dedication.
